Linux distributor Interactive Ideas has thrown its weight behind the relaunch of a web site that aims to increase the use of open source software across Europe.
LinuxVAR.net replaces LinuxVAR.co.uk, which has existed for more than a year and receives about 1,000 hits per day. Interactive Ideas said it is now looking to get the LinuxVAR.net site up to 50,000 hits per month.
Michael Trup, managing director of Interactive Ideas, told CRN: “We are trying to make open source less technical and put the benefits of it into business terms so it can be considered as more of a viable possibility.”
The site currently has 200 registered members, including 80 Linux resellers. It has also received backing from Linux vendors, such as Red Hat and Novell.
