Sheffield Hallam University is implementing business intelligence technology to monitor course performance.
The system will allow staff at the university to compare about data about courses from previous years to see which are performing better, allowing it to make better informed decisions.
It will also allow the university's 600 staff to drill down through results and monitor the progress of its 28,000 students.
Better information on how students are making progresss with courses will improve the university's strategic vision, says Susan Gill, student information development project manager at Sheffield Hallam University.
'Implementation of Cognos 8 will provide us with an opportunity to capitalise on our successful use of technology in other departments, and we anticipate standardising on one centralised platform in the near future,' she said.
